Police State

On August 15, 2021, people flooded the streets of Gwanghwamun to protest President Moon. Citizens had been gathering to oppose his administration even before that day. When the protesters arrived at Gwanghwamun Square, however, lines of uniformed police officers were already in position to block them. In a liberal democracy, the right to protest belongs to the individual. That day, I witnessed an uncomfortable moment in which that liberty was visibly restricted, and I tried to hold the scene in photographs.
